Dates for Baptisms in 2012

In 2012, the usual dates for baptisms in our Community will be the THIRD SUNDAY of each month.

Usually, the baptisms will be celebrated in the Chapel at 11.45 am, following the celebration of the 10.30 am Eucharist.

The baptism Sundays in 2012 are:

19 February
18 March

15 April
20 May
17 June

15 July
19 August
16 September

21 October
18 November (N.B. 2.00pm)
16 December

Baptism Preparation in 2012

In 2012, a baptism preparation session for parents who are bringing their first baby to the church for baptism will be held on a Saturday morning eight days before the Baptism Sunday.

The baptism preparation session usually takes place at 10.00 am on these Saturdays and is held in the St Luke’s Meeting Room.

In 2012, the preparation sessions will be held on the following Saturdays:
11 February, 10 March,14 April, 12 May, 9 June,14 July,

11 August, 8 September, 13 October, 10 November and 8 December.

For very special reasons other arrangements can be made for both the baptism celebration and baptism preparation.

Donations for Baptisms

There is a long-standing custom for parents to offer a DONATION
when their child is baptised.
It is a DONATION.
It is not a required fee or cost.
Some parents can offer a DONATION. Some cannot.

The DONATION is used in the same way that money given in the collections at Sunday Eucharist is used:

Most of the DONATION is used for the Community’s work and ministry (e.g. for the poor, the sick, the home-bound, etc). It is also used for the maintenance of the Chapel and other Community property.

The rest of the DONATION is used to support the priest by providing for some of his living expenses.

If parents do not come regularly to Sunday Eucharist, the DONATION they make for the baptism of their child is one way in which they can support the Community and the priest. All Catholics are asked to help provide this support.

Some parents are able to offer a DONATION of $100.00. Some can offer $60.00. Some can offer $40.00. Some can offer $20.00. Some are not able to offer any donation.

ALL PARENTS CAN BE ASSURED THAT THEY WILL NOT BE SENT AN ACCOUNT!
